Everyone Worships in a different way. Some like to raise their hands, others want to remain seated or on their knees. Some pray out loud, others to themselves. Some groove to the sound of drums, and others hum along to traditional songs. There is no right or wrong way to Worship the Lord. In our case, as Christians, we are worshiping (reverencing) the true God. Is going to church mandatory to be a Christian? We would say no but there are several benefits as to why it is helpful on your Christian journey. Let’s look at what the Bible describes as forms of worship.
Remember to Keep Holy the Sabbath Day
This is the third Commandment of God’s laws. The commandments are mentioned in the bible in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. The great way to follow this commandment is by going to church and filling this day with worship. Spiritually and morally requires dedication and effort. Worshiping God alone is wonderful, but nothing can replace the beauty of coming together to worship Him with others who also have His Spirit in them through the redeeming work of salvation.
Matthew 19:20 – For where two or three gather together in My name
For where two or three are assembled in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you. Jesus Christ teaches His disciples principles that will help them lead the Church. Without the distraction of work and responsibilities, it allows us to give God our full attention and take in the word.
Galatians 6:2 – Bear ye one another burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ..
Part of a community involves leaning on each other in both good and bad times. When we reach out to one another we can uplift and support and encourage our neighbors. The unity and diversity within the church enrich the church community, equipping people in the church for righteousness to glorify Christ and to spread the news of His love and salvation that extends to all people.
Ephesians 4:16 – God talks about how we make up the church
When the word “church” comes up in conversation, the first thing we think of is a building. We have this mindset that church is a place we go to on Sundays. As we get our family dressed, fight through traffic and get a good seat, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we aren’t just going to church; we are the church. to ensure that it runs, we must be there and regularly take part in service.
Titus 2:2-6 Mentor-ship
This scripture reading talks about guidance from the Lord. By attending church regularly you can find an earthly figure to help accompany you on your spiritual journey.
What Are the Benefits You Can Have If You Clearly Understand God’s Word?
You’ll grow in confidence in God’s truth. You’ll feel more of His emotions towards you as you understand all that God has done for you through Jesus Christ. God’s Word also sets you free from fears and inhibitions so you can be successful in His assignments for you in life. When we gather in the church, we can clear our minds and receive god’s words. God wanted His word to be heard, not just in Jeremiah’s time, but for all time. So He instructed Jeremiah to write down the message (see 36:1-2). Jeremiah’s writings eventually became part of our Scriptures—the Word of God. Now we can open the Bible and read the very words of God.
How Can You Use Your Talents to Serve Others?
Use your talents to serve God. If God has blessed you with a talent, you may be called to motivate others in the completion of goals that will ultimately serve Christ. It could be through song, dance, words, or simply helping, everyone’s gift is important and can be used for His glory.
The Importance of Raising Your Children in Church
Raising your children in the church provides them with a community of like-minded believers. Our society is teaching anti-Biblical structures that are designed to destroy the nucleus of the family. Things that are right are being called wrong and things that are wrong are being called right. This means teaching your child the way that they should go. When you teach them early that God is love, they will spread that to all they come in contact with.
We can go on and on with reasons to go to church but we hope some of these reasons can help you on your walk with the Lord.1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.” In fact, search for verses in the New Testament containing the word “together”. You will find many, many verses talking about being knit together, working together, and striving together. This “togetherness” cannot happen if we are sitting at home and not attending church.
